A Full-Circle Moment with Cacao: From NYC to Puerto Rico
There are moments in life where the spiral becomes so visible, it takes your breath away.
Walking into Hotel La Botanica in San Juan, Puerto Rico, I didn’t expect to find a familiar friend on the shelf — a bag of Cacao Laboratory’s ceremonial cacao, the very same cacao that first touched my heart in 2018. I was working at The Assemblage in New York City, a space where healing, community, and transformation wove through every corner. It was there, guided by the gentle wisdom of Florencia Friedman, that I was introduced to cacao — not just as a drink, but as a spirit.
Back then, cacao cracked me open.
She held space for me. She softened edges. She reminded me of what it feels like to be present, embodied, and connected to something greater than myself.

This moment was more than coincidence. It was confirmation.
Confirmation that we’re never really lost. That our missions continue to unfold, even when we can’t see the whole picture. That we are connected to our purpose, even when it feels far away.
